Gingerbread Latte
Tried the new gingerbread latte from starbucks b/c I got a free coupon in the mail. I rate it abt a 3 out of 5 -- it was okay--but at the end of my latte I felt something kinda hard on my lips -it made me kinda freak out. I found out later they put some kind of "spice drop" in it. Kinda wierd but it was free.

New Recipe
I tried this new easy recipe last night to not so rave reviews from Emma. We had to sit thru dinner listening to her gag and cry w/ one bit in her mouth for abt 10 min. It was actually really easy to make and pretty good. I'd give it a 3 out of 5. Oh, Mike and Eli ate it just fine.

Quit job
I actually turned my 2 week notice into work today @ the surgery center. I was scared of turning it into my boss and luckily she had already left for the day so I got to turn it in to someone else who is very nice. I am still scared to see her on Friday tho. I guess I will survive.
I thought this cartoon was sort of fitting since I have so many part time jobs w/ no benefits....

Tired of Doctors
I have to vent.....I am tired of doctors who think they are better b/c we say "Doctor" in front of their name. So what, you have a job and I have a job - I have never claimed to be able to do your job and you certainly could not do mine. The difference between us is that no matter what I treat you with respect and you lost the meaning of respect after you passed your boards- that is unless you see dollar signs attached! Okay, I feel better- Thanks!

New book- Twilight
This is a must read- I loved it. Don't let the content of vampires scare ya like it did me at first. It was the first book in a long time that I could not put down. I am on the 4 th book after 3 weeks and am looking forward to the movie coming out this month.

Things kids do that make you laugh out loud
Emma brought home papers from school today and I was kinda surpursed b/c she usually does really well or may miss a few here and there but one particular paper had orange writing all over it. The paper was all abt command sentences-she did great on the upper section then at the bottom was the instructions Write a command sentence. Next to that teacher comment "You don't need to start a command sentence with "I command you to"
Emma's sentence was "I command you to go get me a chocolate shake from frosty boy!"
It just shows you how much they take things literally. Mike and I thought it was cute.
Next time I will tell you the story abt Eli and the book he made at school abt his family.

Where did I go wrong ??
This is a picture of my bathroom sink - 2 days after I cleaned it. Can anyone give me some guidance on teaching my children how to brush their teeth without leaving all the toothpaste crap behind ? Oh well, I guess they are at least brushing their teeth, right?

Emma and Basketball
Emma started basketball a couple of weeks ago- she did not want to play but we really wanted her to try it. It is a really low-key almost "clinic-like" program-done thru the high school. Now she is asking me everyday when she gets to go back to basketball b/c she likes it.

Baking on a Friday night :)
Yes, I am old. I spent a Friday night baking w/ my kids. Emma made homemade pumpkin bread w/ homemade cream cheese icing-yum-she did everything herself. It turned out good-of coarse she would only take one small bite. Then Eli and I made brownies(not homemade) - I was out of "Martha Stewart" mode by then. We still had a lot of fun !!

My sister called last Friday and asked if I could meet her in Chicago for a taping of the Oprah show. So I drove up on Thursday and met her and her friend Sarah and we went. It was really fun to see how the show was done. It had Dr Oz on, too! I will post picutres later.

The Notebook
This is my ultimate favorite love movie-ever! I watched it tonight again (like the 10th time). I know it is corny to some but I think I like it so much b/c I work with so many couples who have been married 40+ years and see how hard it can be for them once one gets sick. One of my favorite things, if not my favorite things to do as a nurse is to listen to the stories of there lives together. Sometimes if you just stop and listen you can learn so much.

He Almost Did It!!!
We have been talking to Eli since he started football abt. his crying. For those that don't know, it is not that he is crying b/c he is hurt-he cries b/c he didn't sac the QB, or he wasn't the one who made the play, or/and especially when he has to take a break to let the other kids have their turns to play. It can be very trying on a parents nerves-let me tell ya. Well, he did awesome today- they tied 6-6 and absolutely no crying during the whole game until the very end-when he realized that they tied and did not win! I have to just keep reminding myself and his Dad- he is 6 !

2 Dead in Helicopter Crash Into Wis. House
Helicopter crashes into house at Kenosha, Wis., killing 2 on aircraft; 5 in house uninjured
KENOSHA, Wis. September 21, 2008 (AP)
A helicopter crashed into the roof of a house early Sunday, killing two people in the aircraft, but five people in the house were uninjured, police reported.

The helicopter crashed around 5:30 a.m., about one mile south of the Kenosha Airport, police Sgt. Eric Larsen said.
Fog was reported in the area at the time, but there was no immediate indication if that played a role in the crash. Visibility at 5:30 a.m. was three-quarters of a mile to a mile, National Weather Service meteorologist Chris Franks said.
Gary Stielow, who lives about 100 yards from the crash site, said he woke up and heard the helicopter before it crashed.
"The engine just didn't sound right," Stielow told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. "It was sputtering. It was at full power, but it was sputtering real bad. Then you just heard a loud boom."
Stielow said he ran outside and saw that the family in the house had made it out safely. The bodies of the two people killed in the crash were on the ground next to the helicopter's engine, which was on fire, Stielow said.
Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Tony Molinaro said the helicopter was a 2006 Robinson R-44 registered to Midwestern Air Services of Kenosha, which provides charter services and flight training.
Molinaro said the pilot didn't appear to have filed a flight plan. The airport's tower does not open until 7 a.m., so travel earlier than that is "at your own risk," said Corey Reed, operations supervisor at the airport.
A preliminary report on the crash will take about a week to complete, said Ed Malinowski, an air safety inspector for the National Transportation Safety Board. He said he didn't think the helicopter had a flight data recorder.
A phone listing for Midwestern Air Services could not immediately be found.

Mike and his freakin foot
Mike has been back to work for 2 weeks now and had to go back to the doctor Weds. because he felt something moving on the bottom of his foot. He ended up having a bursa sac ( fluid filled) on the bottom of his foot. He got a steriod shot into the bottom of his foot and so far it seems to be helping-thanks God! If he still has trouble they will have to remove it-yuck!
